What is a 4 paragraph essay?
The four-paragraph essay is a format, which is accepted for the different types of essays, including the contrast essays, comparing essays, and effect and cause essays. The essay consists of an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
No rule says an essay needs to have a certain number of paragraphs, but an essay must be at least three paragraphs. Many people say an essay should be five paragraphs, but it's an extremely limiting rule, and unless you've been instructed to write a five-paragraph essay, there's no reason to stick to it.
Basic Essay Word to Paragraphs Conversions
A 600 word essay is 4 paragraphs. A 700 word essay is 4 to 5 paragraphs.
4 paragraphs is 400 β 800 words for essays, 200 β 400 words for easy writing. 5 paragraphs is 500 β 1,000 words for essays, 250 β 500 words for easy writing. 6 paragraphs is 600 β 1,200 words for essays, 300 β 600 words for easy writing.
Aim for three to five or more sentences per paragraph. Include on each page about two handwritten or three typed paragraphs. Make your paragraphs proportional to your paper. Since paragraphs do less work in short papers, have short paragraphs for short papers and longer paragraphs for longer papers.
